A colleague from outside of London was in the office today and pulled out the London Tube Map to work out how to get to his appointment.
Several people pitched in with helpful route suggestions and conversation soon moved to the elegance and simplicity of Harry Beck's stylised map first published in 1933. We could learn a lot from the tube map in terms of how we might effectively present directions in a mobile device on a small display.
If you are fascinated by maps and interested in the history and evolution of the London Underground Map from 1863 to the present day then A History of London Tube Maps is worth a look.
